The Courthouse Security Officer, a POST Certified position, is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the courthouse, its personnel, and visitors. This role involves screening individuals, monitoring courthouse activity, and responding to security threats to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Access Control & Screening:
- Operate security screening equipment (metal detectors, X-ray machines).
- Check individuals for prohibited items and ensure compliance with security protocols.
- Courtroom Security:
- Maintain order during court proceedings.
- Escort judges, jurors, and witnesses as needed.
- Monitor public areas for suspicious behavior.
- Emergency Response:
- Respond to security threats and disturbances.
- Assist in evacuations during fire alarms or other emergencies.
- Surveillance & Monitoring:
- Operate security cameras and conduct regular patrols.
- Respond to suspicious activity and enforce courthouse policies.
